Welcome
Everyone feels anxiety, depression, or other difficult feelings at different
points in their life. When painful feelings are persistent and life
begins to feel difficult and unmanageable in a more ongoing way that is the
time to consider going to therapy.
For the last 20 years, I
have helped adult men and women and teens and their parents improve their
mood, reduce stress, increase self confidence, cultivate satisfying
relationships, and make lasting changes in their lives.
I
recognize the courage it takes to begin therapy. I work hard to provide a
climate where you can feel safe and understood so you can begin to explore
your thoughts and feelings. We will work together to understand your
distress and develop a plan unique to you. I will explore the reasons
that bring you to therapy and look at the underlying factors that have
created your pain and lack of fulfillment. When necessary, I will
incorporate specific behavioral interventions such as mindfulness, cognitive
strategies, and coaching. I also work collaboratively with other mental
health professionals. psychiatrists, parents, and school personnel so there
is a comprehensiveness in approach across settings.
I am
interested in creating an environment that is nurturing while also gently
challenges aspects of yourself that are "stuck" and ineffective. By
tailoring my approach to meet the specific pace and goals of each person, I
help facilitate self awareness, growth, and healing.
I am
continually inspired by the courage of my patients to address their
difficulties authentically and to make profound and lasting changes in their
lives.
